This was something that I struggled with for some time. Why should blind ignorance reward the same if not better sometimes versus actually figuring it out and knowing? It takes more effort and intelligence to figure stuff out versus blindly following as God commands. I mean any idiot can follow the Ten Commandments, or can they? I had to come around full circle to be able to want to try to follow them in the first place.
Let us look at things from the point of view of a parent with two kids. One child is dumb, but loyal, follows and believes everything you tell them. The other child is to smart for their own good, does not believe a word you tell them, and questions everything. That child also broke into places/areas that they were not supposed to go into, and misbehaves because they do not really know any better. That child has even hurt you by doing things you told them not to do, but they did anyway. Even though he knew they were going to do it, it still hurt. Therefore, which child would you reward again?
It is a good thing for the Jewish people, some others, and I that God rewards for intelligence too. He still loves us even though we drive him nuts by prodding, poking, snooping, asking, questioning, figuring, etc. He did make us in his own image after all. A little bit of forgiveness and humility goes a long way towards getting along with your fellow humans, it is cursed to be blessed.
